At this point I think I've figured out the problem. I had 'Debugview'
from 'Sysinternals' in my Programs->Startup folder, so it was being
started when I logged in. Something about starting this at the same time
as logging in appears to cause bad things to happen. If I take it out of
startup, I don't get any crashes. If I wait a few seconds after the
login appears to be complete it appears to be okay...
I'm running 4.72 of DebugView, but 4.74 appears to have been released...
maybe I'll give that a go...
