Hi.

Im faced with a little problem when trying to give an Ali USB 2.0 controller to a guest system: when i try to start my domu, it says that the backend device could not be found.

Im using Debian etch both as dom0 and as domU.
Im using the standard binary installation from the Debian etch repositority tree (kernel, hypervisor, ...).
Im running xen 3.0.3-1 and both use a 2.6.18 kernel.

In Dom0, the Ali-controller works (ive tested it). DomU also boots perfectly.

Now i did the following: i added a parameter to my /boot/grub/menu.list which makes the important line look like the following:
kernel /boot/xen-3.0.3-1-i386-pae.gz
module /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.18-4-xen-686 root=/dev/hdc2 ro console=tty0 pciback.hide=(00:0a.0)(00:0a.1)(00:0a.2)(00:0a.3)

my lspci looks like the following:
00:0a.0 USB Controller: ALi Corporation USB 1.1 Controller (rev 03)
00:0a.1 USB Controller: ALi Corporation USB 1.1 Controller (rev 03)
00:0a.2 USB Controller: ALi Corporation USB 1.1 Controller (rev 03)
00:0a.3 USB Controller: ALi Corporation USB 2.0 Controller (rev 01)

then i echoed '0000:00:0a.3' into /sys/bus/pci/drivers/pciback/new_slot
and into
/sys/bus/pci/drivers/pciback/bind

when i do this, i get
PCI: Enabling device 0000:00:0a.3
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:0a.3 -> GSI18 (level,low) -> IRQ 16
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:0a.3 disabled

What to do now? How could i tell him to find this device in domu?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Fabian Werner,
Germany
