[Xen-users] RE: Problems with LVM in Xen3.0
|
Hello Christian,
I just read your mail with LVM snapshotting problems under Xen.
I had similar problems with xen 2.0. I don't think the problem is xen
related though. I found some mails that say that LVM2 snapshotting is
not stable yet in 2.6 kernels. (See here:
www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0410.1/0861.html
www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0502.0/0413.html)
I documentet some of the mails on my howto-page for Sarge and Xen 2.0
(http://www.xmlvalidation.com/xen_howto_sarge.0.html)
I found another mail from November 2nd from Alasdair G Kergon where he
had a patch for the hang-problem with LVM2 snapshots (see here:
http://archives.free.net.ph/message/20051102.000353.81a647cf.en.html).
But I don't know whether this is accepted in the kernel yet. I don't
know either whether LVM snapshotting is stable after this fix or if
there are more problems with it.
If you find out that snapshotting is ready for production, please let me
know.
Christian
