You say that you update to python 2.4. Did you install xen after python
upgrade ? Is the default python path (/usr/bin/python) is a link to
python2.4 ?

Operation not permitted... Are you root ?

Hum... On my computers (Debian Sarge, xen testing, python 2.4, twisted
sumo 2.0.1) :

xen 3.0 is for developpers only. Try xen with 2.0 or testing release...
