Re: [Xen-devel] problem using compiled kernel -- Sisu

On an AMD3500+, running in 32-Bits PAE mode. I did have a very similar error until I increase the VM of Dom0 past the 400 MB bar.

Ubuntu, Lucid 10.04 LTS

     multiboot '(hd0,2)'/xen.gz dummy=dummy dom0_mem=400M
module '(hd0,2)'/vmlinuz-2.6.32.15 dummy=dummy root=/dev/mapper/NormalLVM-RootDM0 ro
     module '(hd0,2)'/initrd.img-2.6.32.15

For the DomU, I use the regular kernel of Ubuntu
I try once to reduce the dom0_mem to 300 M ... and the system did not boot, returning a lot of funny error (particularly about swap)

Hi, all:

I have changed to another machine and still encountered the same
problem. Does anyone know how to solve it?

the output of the serial put is attached. Xen just won't start..

Also, the link on http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenParavirtOps,
for the .config file
(http://pasik.reaktio.net/xen/pv_ops-dom0-debug/config-2.6.32.10-pvops-dom0-xen-stable-x86_32)
seems to be not working. Does anyone have a copy of that?

Thanks very much!

Best!

Yours,
Sisu

Hi,

I reinstalled Fedora 13 on my machine, with my graphic card removed
(using the integrated one on my motherboard). Still Xen would not
start normally. My fedora was on /dev/sda3(sda1&2 are windows). I just
used one volume without swap. Does Xen require swap as a must?
No, Xen doesn't need swap at all. Linux's requirement for swap is unchanged
under Xen (ie, if you don't need it native, you don't need it under Xen).

In any case, your crashes have nothing to do with swap; you've managed to
get an entirely new failure-mode. Looks like it might be something to do
with ACPI, but I'm not sure what.
