[Xen-bugs] [Bug 1158] New: When a nic has no link,	network-bridge leaves
| http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1158
Summary: When a nic has no link, network-bridge leaves it in an
                    invalid state
           Product: Xen
           Version: unstable
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: critical
          Priority: P2
         Component: Tools
        AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: michael@xxxxxxxx
Starting conditions:
- a system with 2 nics. the 2nd nic is not connected to a network but is set up
with an ip address
- ifconfig eth1 shows the address
Now i run "/etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge start bridge=xenbr1 netdev=eth1":
Nothing to flush.
Waiting for peth1 to negotiate link...........(link isnt in running state)
SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device
Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; No such device.
SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device
Failed to bring up eth1.
This results in:
- a peth1 with the mac of the old eth1
- ifconfig eth1 shows "eth1: error fetching interface information: Device not
found"
- the device is not available anymore
After stopping the bridge (using the script), the device is as it was before.
